Not As Graphic..Abortion Part 2

Psalm 139; 13,14 "For you formed my inward parts you covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well."

In this psalm, David affirms that the work of God in his life extended back to his development in his mother's womb. Who was in the womb? David was. The Bible NEVER uses anything less than human terms to describe the unborn. Science teaches us that an unborn child is just as much an independent human being as you are. The original human cell consists of 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent. At no point during pregnancy does the mother contribute any new cells to the child. The original cell divides itself and multiplies to provide development and growth for the child. Scientifically speaking, the child is just as independent at six months before birth as they are six months after birth. That means the baby is unique, having half mom and half dad in them at conception. Yes the mother does provide nourishment to the unborn child, but she also provides nourishment with breast milk to a newborn child.

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the law of the prophets."

Would you care to be pickled to death with an injection? Or have your life scraped away with a tool that looks like a spoon? Or maybe you desire to have your brain removed? Abortion goes against this golden rule passage that Jesus personally delivered to us. No one desires these things.

Psalm 51:3 "For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me."

David confessed this to God after his sin with Bathsheba. David had a constant conviction and regret for what he did. David committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband murdered on the battlefield. And he regretted this deeply. Most women who have abortions, spend the rest of their lives regretting it. I ask that you visit with some woman who has had an abortion. Ask her if she would do it again, ask her if she has any regrets. Abortion brings shame, heartache and deep deep regret. Why would this be if it wasn't wrong?

Psalm 127:3 "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward."

Many translations as this translation refers to say children are a gift from God. The fact that one becomes pregnant is a reward from God. Why would you want to terminate that?

2 Kings 8:12 "And Hazael said, “Why is my lord weeping?”
He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel: Their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword; and you will dash their children, and rip open their women with child.”

This is a prophecy of the bad things Hazael would bring upon Israel. These are not good things, young men being killed by the sword, children being killed and pregnant women being ripped open. These are bad things according to this passage as they should be.

Matthew 2:16 "Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men."

Luke 2:12 "And this will be the sign to you; you will find a babe in swaddling clothes lying in a manger."

This verse calls newborn children babes. And this is referring to the baby Jesus. But Luke 1:41 uses the same word babes to describe unborn children in the womb. There is no distinction between whether they're born or in the womb, they're both described as human life, as children. In the book of Daniel, Daniel, Meshach ,Abed-nego and Shadrach would not defile themselves with a portion of the king's food nor with the king's wine. They also would not bow down and worship the king. That ended up getting the three in a fiery furnace and landed Daniel in a den of lions. I'm sure many of us know these stories, but I would like to just point out that the Bible calls out many times not to live a compromising life. We are not to compromise our views and our convictions from the Lord and His word. If broken, Keep the faith. If in financial ruins, keep the faith. If in a blazing furnace, KEEP THE FAITH!

Again I will end like my last post. Let us see from God's word that abortion is wrong in many many ways. Let us make it and see it as the big issue that it is. My prayer is that God shows mercy on us, a nation that claims to be founded on Christian beliefs, yet so often overlooks God and His will and ways for "rights", or economy, or just plain greed. Let us wake up and lean on Him, it saved Daniel and his companions, and it can save us too.

With love,

C.

Chris these are very appropiate scriptures to back up your beliefs on abortion. I enjoyed reading it and I think it should be very helpful to anyone having doubts about whether abortion is the right thing to do or not. Good advice also in telling women to talk to someone whos had an abortion before going ahead with one. I have heard too that women have a really hard time afterwards with the guilt etc. Chris if this blog keeps even one person from having an abortion it was well worth your time and I thank you for being concerned enough to blog about this touchy subject. By the way I commented on your first blog again. Take care - Love, Aunt Fannie

Wow, is my first point. Chris, I just want to say, you did a thorough job of addressing the touchy topic of abortion and backing your stance with not only scripture (what you believe) but with facts (what the general public believes). It is clear you have done research. I often try to ask myself, what is right according to the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights, and what is right according to God? Sometimes the the answers aren't the same. As with any topic in American politics today, everything is open to interpretation and the courts are no exception. Many people think of the law as concrete and solid, when in fact, I believe the opposite is true. The law is fluid and always moving because of the interprative power the courts have, the most powerful and influential being the Supreme Court. It will be interesting to see what happens as Obama takes office, what affect his presense will have on the judicial branch, if any. Supreme Court Justices hold life terms and during Bush's presidency he had to the opportunity to further his agenda by appointing two (Alito and Roberts), giving the conservatives on the court a slight majority. The court's judgements are law, and can only be overturned if the same issue is revisited in the future. Abortion is no exception to this. But I am thankful for the checks and balances our founding fathers put into place. No matter how scary things might seem, no one person will ever have ultimate control of the U.S. government. Thank you for your post and insight on this topic Chris. You never cease to amaze me.

Thank you Shanna. I am just tired of hearing about rights rights rights. No matter how evil or twisted it may seem, apparently we must have the right to do it. Look at the uproar over prop 8 in California. Have to have the right to gay marriage. Abortion. Whats next? Our founding Fathers were believers of Christ, we were granted freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. People don't want to put Christ in their lives, thats their right. But why do we have to give up our moral fabric for them when thats what this country was founded on. I am thankful as well that one person cannot overturn law alone, but what does scare me is our new president and all the support he has in the other seats of government. I am in the lower middleclass bracket, so I will probally make out better financially, but at cost morally? Have you seen this drama in Washington? Rights rights rights. I love the constitution and bill of rights, But God is always first and foremost. Thanks for the comment.

You are so right most women regret their act horribly. It tears them up inside. I know someone who has had an abortion and unfortunatly she had the abortion for no reason other than not wanting her child. I know when brought up she chooses not to talk about it, I think she prefers to pretend as if she never did it. It saddens me greatly. I can't fathom how people can do this as birth control or just because they don't want a child. I can't imagine the person that could make a child suffer to death just because that child is an inconvienance.

This is one issue that I kinda have mixed feelings on. It's just my view, but abortion is indeed murder in its worst form, you're murdering someone who can't defend themselves. However... I could understand abortion in the case where a rape has impregnated a woman. All BS life story aside, I'd wonder if that's how the 'Messiah' was born(The new socialist one, not Jesus. :P)

Rape is a terrible act of hatred, and is done by the worst scum on the planet. The child will already have bad genes, and not having a father while growing up will surely have a negative effect, altogether.
I could be wrong and probably am, but I just couldn't stomach letting a criminal breed more hate, literally. If it were up to me, the woman would need to report the rape and pass a rape kit soon after it happened though, because suddenly everyone would be claiming they got raped.

It could be argued that God let the rape happen, but couldn't it be argued that he let the abortion clinics be built as well? I can't see God working with the lesser of two evils system either, but that's just me.

Overall though, abortion has gotten pretty ridiculous and is suddenly a new form of birth control. I kinda tend to let my inner libertarian show on this... (that's libertarian.. not liberal..). I'm not tryin to call you out on this Chros, just sharing my view. I doubt I'll ever know enough about abortion to take a serious stance on it.

"I've noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born."

I am glad you are honest about your view. You think most abortion is wrong and you voted that way. Not like MANY Christians who also oppose abortion yet voted for the guy with one of the most liberal stances on the issue. Economy or the fact that he would be the first African American president, or simply people, especially Hollywood, made Obama out to be a rock star practically. This is what won him the election as far as I see it. I will not vote money over my views, nor popularity. I know that you said you weren't calling me out on this and I believe you, I do pray though that you see that killing is wrong in all ways. I understand peoples view on the rape abortion, but though that child is conceived in such a way does not make him/her a monster. Now I know the rapist genes are there with the mothers, but just like alot of dogs I know, they are not mean and evil unless they are raised that way. God is indeed Sovereign, whichs means he has control over all things, though he does not make them happen, i.e. he allows them to happen. Why? I cannot answer that. Theologians have a hard time with those questions. Thanks for the comment tommy.

I commented to this but decided to delete it and just e-mail it to Heidi. I find it asinine to argue with a family member on a public blog.
